About
Jonathan C. Creasy
Jonathan C. Creasy is an award-winning writer, editor, publisher and filmmaker based in Ireland. He is co-founder and producer at Miracle Pictures and founder/publisher at New Dublin Press and its imprint, Writing Ireland.
Creasy's awards include both literature and film bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland, an artist residency in the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris, and a Creative Fellowship from Harvard University.
He is the author of The Black Mountain Letters (Dalkey Archive Press) and editor of the anthology Black Mountain Poems (New Directions), and his writing has appeared in The Irish Times, The Paris Review, Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, and the Los Angeles Review of Books, among others.
Creasy is writer, producer and director of the feature documentary film, The Blue Shroud; and director of the experimental documentary, The Qualities of Water, which had its world premiere in the Irish Film Institute (IFI). He is writer and producer of the Screen Ireland Focus Short, Lucy's Boyfriend, and producer of Reprisal, which had its world premiere in the Galway Film Fleadh 2026.
He holds a PhD in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin, where his research on Black Mountain College was funded by Trinity, the German government, the Irish government, and the Royal Irish Academy.
Previously, he studied music under jazz legend Charlie Haden at CalArts, performed internationally, and recorded in Interscope/Geffen and Capitol studios.
Dr. Creasy teaches in the Mary Lavin Centre for Creative Writing in University College Dublin.
